Thomas Maikowski

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Father Thomas Maikowski came to New Mexico and was ordained a priest of the Diocese in 1976. Since then, Father Thomas Maikowski has enjoyed an illustrious career that proves his sincere and unwavering devotion to Catholic education. Beginning as an administrator and teacher at Cathedral High School in Northern New Mexico, Father Thomas Maikowski was quickly named the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese. He simultaneously served as Principal and Teacher of The Catholic Academy in Farmington, New Mexico. Father Thomas Maikowski was then appointed Director of Education for the Diocese, a post he held for 14 years, 7 of which he also served as Principal of Saint Francis of Assisi School, the school at which he later served as an Educational Consultant. With a history of superior teaching and administrative skills, Father Thomas Maikowski offers his students an incomparable education, which is also in part due to his own training.
Beyond his dedication to his role as an educator, Father Thomas Maikowski is a dedicated student. He has earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees, a Master of Arts, a Master of Science, a Master of Divinity, and a Master of Education. Additionally, Father Thomas Maikowski possesses a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Saint Louis University and a Doctor of Education in Private School Administration from the University of San Francisco. His dissertation for the latter focused on the rationale behind appending the 7th and 8th grades to the traditional 9th-12th grade structure in Catholic secondary schools.
Father Thomas Maikowski has also served as a chaplain for the United States Air Force for the past 25 years. Father Thomas Maikowski’s service to the Air Force has been marked by outstanding leadership and managerial skills that have built enlightening and esteemed chapel communities under very high-pressure conditions.
