Steven Russell

Nicknamed the Butterfly Dentist because of his fascination with butterflies and because of the butterfly-themed artwork displayed prominently in his office, Steven Russell, DDS, founded, owns, and operates The Art of Dentistry. A practitioner with a long history in the field and a dedication to family, both his and the patient families he serves, Dr. Russell offers a number of cutting-edge treatment options from his office in Orinda, California.

Dr. Steve Russell completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his DDS from the UCLA School of Dentistry before launching his private practice. He opened the doors at his current state-of-the-art office in 1999, and soon after, the facility received a nomination from a national architecture review for best new office design. As an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society, Dr. Steve Russell gains access to leading continuing dental education and stays abreast of the industry’s latest procedures and technologies, which he then applies at his own practice.

Over the years, Dr. Steve Russell has incorporated a number of high-tech techniques and dental devices into his clinic, all with the intent of providing a superior patient experience. Some of these technologies include tiny intraoral cameras, which allow the dentist or hygienist to receive a better picture of the problem and treat it accordingly, and digital x-ray machines, which surpass traditional radiography methods in image quality and exposure risk.
