Mustafa Stefan Dill
Web Editor, Internet Broadcasting
I am here for general networking and to learn more about new media/new journalism practices in France and elsewhere in Europe.
With nine years experience in mainstream news media -- first in radio, then web and social media for both print and television -- I was an early advocate and practitioner for applying social media techniques to mainstream journalism. I have lectured on online journalism and social change at the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media, Bangalore, India and has been featured in Online Journalism Review, The Media Center's Morph blog, J-New Voices, motherpie.typepad.com, and participated as a panelist in a national web seminar by the American Press Institute.
I share PR, social media and new media strategies for these areas of interest at http://newmedianewmexico.blogspot.com/ The blog also follows the Islamosphere at large, new media/new journalism developments in south Asia and the Middle East/North Africa and explores new theoretical frameworks for journalism pedagogy and newsroom training.
In late August 2010, I founded Ummah Relations, a full service business consulting, PR and social/new media advisory firm, specializing in – but not limited to – helping Muslim institutions, other interfaith organizations, and NGOs working with Islamic affairs clarify their message and maximize their social media reach and performance.
While our practice is open to all kinds of businesses, it is a particular mission for Ummah Relations to bring its specialized experience and understanding to the problems facing Muslim organizations in their relationship to the public sphere.
The perception of Muslims by the general public and the media has never been more at odds with the diverse reality and experience of Muslims across the globe and particularly in the U.S. But Muslims as individuals and as organizations must take some of the responsibility and improve their communications efforts and abilities with their non-Muslim neighbors, communities and associates.
Ummah Relations is a full service business consulting, PR and social/new media advisory firm, specializing in – but not limited to – helping Muslim institutions, other interfaith organizations, and NGOs working with Islamic affairs clarify their message and maximize their social media reach and performance.

Work with other departments to accomplish productive cross-promotion, successful convergence projects; seeking out innovative, distinctive ways to present information that will distinguish the site.
