    Since his family moved to Nicaragua’s Miskito Coast from the United States when he was 12. Robert Nolan has worked all over the world in both the service of his country and in the conduct of business. While in Nicaragua, Mr. Nolan became fluent in Spanish and Miskito, the language of northeastern Nicaragua’s Indian tribes. After the Soviet / Cuban backed Sandinistas overthrew the Somoza government, Mr. Nolan fled Nicaragua and returned to the United States. Robert Nolan joined the United States Navy in 1983, served for seven years on the USS America, CV-66, the nation’s flagship aircraft carrier, and was deployed in operations off of Libya in 1988 and off of Kuwait during the Persian Gulf War. In 1988, he was recognized as Sailor of the Year for his work on the USS America and was honored in a ceremony in Washington, DC, by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Beginning in 1998, Robert Nolan served for many years as President and Chief Executive Officer of OmniTrade International, Inc., an international business firm located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. At OmniTrade International, Mr. Nolan brokered contracts with fisheries and shipping firms in the United States, Morocco, Egypt, Iceland, Ireland, and Norway. OmniTrade was the only U.S. seafood exporter that directly worked with the government of Egypt. In 2000, Robert Nolan was a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award - 2000. Robert Nolan is also involved with numerous charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, Inc., the American Diabetes Association, ForKids, Inc., and Junior Achievement USA, an organization that teaches children financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness through various programs. Robert Nolan currently lives in Virginia Beach.
