With a budding career as a singer, songwriter, model, actress, and dancer, Relana McGlothan has positioned herself for a career in show business. Ms. McGlothan, otherwise known as the performer Izana, offers an eclectic style influenced by great musicians such as Prince, Sade, Beyoncé, and Mary J. Blige. With music that encompasses a unique fusion of pop, funk, R&B, and more, Relana McGlothan is a talented songwriter and singer who is ready to make her mark on the national music scene with the release her new album, Tease.
Relana McGlothan has held an interest in music ever since she was a child growing up in Portland, Oregon. In 2001, she was stationed through the military at Bad Aibling Station in Germany. Recovering from knee surgery, she helped her brother, a rapper from her hometown known as Mike Machete, with hooks for his songs. Ms. McGlothan was happy to provide her songwriting skills for him as well as other Portland-area rappers. With her local fame growing even as she was stationed in Europe, Relana McGlothan soon recorded her first songs, “Playa Jimmy” and “Games You Play,” with local Portland talent. That same year, she entered and won a talent competition at her military base, further encouraging her gift for music. After recording more songs and attending additional competitions, Relana McGlothan made some important contacts in the music, modeling, and acting industries.
After two years leading the Stuttgart, Germany, band the Funky Leghorns, Relana McGlothan finally returned to the United States and began Lynx Records in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also started up a partnership with Talbot Snow of Sound Masters Music & Video Production, where she recorded “Thicky Thick Girl,” the lead single from her new album, which will be released in 2011.
