About him

After Rao Chalasani graduated from Polytechnic Institute of New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York as a Project Manager of International Capital Markets in the Global Derivatives Division. There Chalasani managed a team of technology support personnel and designed and implemented a structured derivatives system for the company's management information system reporting and transaction processing. When he completed the Chase Leadership and Management Development Program, an 18-month endeavor that rotated him through the firm's various departments so he could gain experience in each, Rao Chalasani possessed a broad corporate perspective in the financial industry.

After spending a year as a Project Leader at SunGard in New York, Rao Chalasani joined Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., in 1997 as Assistant Vice President of Capital Markets and Fixed Income Technology. He was then promoted to Project Manager and Vice President of Global Fixed Income Technology/E-Commerce in 1999. Chalasani left Merrill Lynch to accept the position of Senior Project Manager and Vice President of Global Markets-Derivatives Technology at Deutsche Bank AG in New York, where he remained for four years. Rao Chalasani returned to Merrill Lynch in 2005 when he assumed the appointment as Chief Technology Officer and Director of Risk Strategy for Credit, Real Estate, and Structured Products. After performing in that role for three years, he was promoted to Chief Technology Officer and Director of Risk Strategy for Global Markets Trading Risk Management.

Over the years, Rao Chalasani has made significant contributions to each company he has served. A results-oriented senior technology executive, he possesses leadership, analytical, and negotiating skills and has gained expertise in a number of different positions within the financial industry. He led the initial implementations of daily flash profit and loss, risk control, and risk increasing transparency, as well as the first straight-through processing program for credit derivatives. Chalasani also invented Enterprise Risk Management System, which is pending a U.S. patent.

Rao Chalasani enjoys personal pursuits including biking, following sports, reading, and keeping up to date on the stock market and global politics. He supports the United Nations Children's Fund, Doctors Without Borders, and various charities that use their resources to benefit underserved women and children.
