Rafael Vitolas has enjoyed a 15-year career in both teaching geography and coaching sports, having served as a coach for golf, football, track, and basketball teams. In addition to teaching regular and honors courses in geography at a high school in San Antonio, Texas, where he has been employed since 2009, Rafael Vitolas currently serves as Head Coach of the school golf team, requiring him to meet with students for daily practice, raise funds for the team through an annual boy and girl golf tournament and the annual AT&T Championship, and maintain all of the golf equipment. Since becoming the Head Coach, Rafael Vitolas has doubled the number of students participating in the golf program. Rafael Vitolas is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, has coached a two-time Individual Regional Qualifier, and is a rules official with the Little Linksters, Junior Tour golf tournaments, and the South Texas Professional Golf Association.
Before his current position, he worked as a geography teacher at another high school in Leander, Texas, At this school, Mr. Vitolas also served as an assistant football coach, providing input to the overall weekly game plans and serving as Head Sophomore Coach. As Head Track Coach at another high school in Mansfield, Texas, Mr. Vitolas developed meets and daily practice schedules for over 100 students. He also hosted and supervised the annual regional qualifiers track meet with over 500 participants from 60 different schools throughout the state of Texas. Rafael Vitolas began his career in coaching in 1996 at a high school in San Marcos, Texas, as a coach for football, basketball, and track.
In 2010, Rafael Vitolas received his Master?s in Educational Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. In Mr. Vitolas?s free time, he enjoys golfing.
