With nearly 20 years working in a variety of capacities at Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations around the world, Neil Hafer brings strong leadership and management skills to his current role as Vice President and General Manager of the company's Utah/Southern Idaho group. Mr. Hafer serves in a supervisory position, overseeing the region's long-term fleet management and personnel decisions, as well as the day-to-day operations of the division.
Neil Hafer enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988, where he studied economics. He completed his Bachelor of Science in 1992, shortly before accepting his first job with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Los Angeles. Mr. Hafer rose through the management ranks in the East San Fernando Valley/San Gabriel region until 2002, when he was promoted to Regional Vice President of the East Tennessee region. There he increased company profits by 100%, boosting fleet and branch numbers before he was promoted and sent to Puerto Rico to help the new operations gain a foothold in the territory.
Neil Hafer served as Vice President and General Manager in Puerto Rico for almost three years, during which time he transformed the start-up operation into the fifth-ranked operating group in the Enterprise Rent-A-Car family. As a leader of the operating group, Mr. Hafer managed the daily affairs of the company, overseeing hiring and also presiding over the new team of employees. Neil Hafer also negotiated a number of leasing arrangements for new rental locations and purchased a wide assortment of vehicles for the Puerto Rico inventory. By the time Mr. Hafer came to Utah in 2009 to accept his promotion to Vice President and General Manager of the Utah/Southern Idaho group, the Puerto Rico group had more than 1,700 vehicles in its rental fleet.
Married for more than 15 years, Neil Hafer lives with his wife and two daughters in Salt Lake City, where he dedicates himself to supporting the community through a variety of charitable enterprises. He regularly contributes to United Way of Salt Lake (where he serves on the Board of Directors), Christ United Methodist Church, and the Ken Garff Keys to Success program.
