Gerz Beer Steins
Gerz beer steins have been around since 1857 when the Gerz Factory began producing stoneware beer steins in Germany. Named for its founder, Simon Peter Gerz, this factory produced steins of many different types, including relief and etched ceramic steins. Gerz was one of the leading factories in Germany during the height of beer stein production from the 1880s to the early 1900s and is still manufacturing beer steins today.
Gerz beer steins are great for collecting because of the variety of Gerz steins on the market, from rare and antique Gerz steins to the high quality modern steins of today.

Collectible Avon Steins
We are sometimes asked what is the significance of the number on the bottom of Avon steins. Avon steins are limited editions, and were numbered sequentially (in other words each stein has a unique number). Avon does not publish the total number made of any stein (to our knowledge at least), and we've found no indication that a higher or lower number is of any significance.
Avon ceramic steins were produced from 1976 - 2005.
