Mark Dalton
Flexible, hardwarking, always learning. Currently with Princeton University.
Currently I am working at Princeton University in Scientific computing (Tigress/HPC) and Geosciences.
Previously I worked for Cray Inc (1991 - April 2010) Software developement in C with SQL (MySQL). Previously programming support for high end
scientific codes, and 8 years of Unix (Unicos*, Linux, Irix, Solaris and Unix systems) from single systems to large clusters.
Consulting in design, setup, and integration of Linux/Unix systems.
From Backups, large scale linux clusters, working with startup companies, system administration, and programming.
Unix, linux, clusters, virtual computing, HPC, science, scientific computing, genetics, cell biology, gene express, cell differentiation, C, programmer, system engineer, system administrator, SQL, mySQL, postgres, Oracle, travel, medical missions, public health, health records information systems,
Vista, MUMPS, robotics, electronics, health care, servers, computing
1994 - 2000Supported the Crays at Los Alamos National Labs (LANL), and also the SGI machines after the SGI/Cray merger. Specifically programming support for parallel and vector systems, then the ASCI Blue Mountain system both programming support for this parallel system and system administration of it.
In 1997 I moved to Minnesota and did programming support and system administration. And when the divestiture started to occur in Dec 2000, I took on new tasks.
1991 - 2010Cray Research Inc./SGI/Cray Inc. - builds the large, fast, balanced computers for real codes. High Performance Computing, vector processors, high speed networks, parallel systems, and clusters.
My work involved:
- Internal programming support 1991-1994.
- Programming support and eventually also system
administration at the customer site at LANL 1994-1997.
Scientic programming, C, C++, Fortran.
- System administration and programming support 1997-2005
Programming support.
- Data security 2000 - 2006 (as a secondary job).
- VPN and firewall setup for international offices and home
systems.
- 2000 setup Linux/firewall/VPN systems for home users.
- 2000 - 2005 - Programming support, support
divestiture/merger, system administration.
Setup Linux for notebooks with firewall/VPN
- 2006 - current - Software Development, C, SQL (mySQL).
1989 - 1993Institute of Human Genetics. Full-time and consultant and volunteer.
Researching the genetics and regulation of virus', like HIV, RSV, and other retro virus'. From the RNA structure prediction and verification, to gene expression. Computing to predict structure and wet lab to confirm structure.
Transgenetic fish to work on food supply research, by inserting a copy of the gene for growth hormone into line of fish, and a marker gene. Later work was into use these fish to research gene expression through out development.
