Lizzy Michler
President, Habitat for Humanity Club
Focused on supporting her community, Lizzy Michler is a member of the Aids Club and the Breast Cancer Awareness Club, and is President of the Habitat for Humanity Club at Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 2011, Ms. Michler helped to rebuild homes for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Additionally, Lizzy Michler volunteered with Heart Care International, a non-profit organization that provides free heart surgery to underserved children in developing countries.
Lizzy Michler also serves as a Greenwich Academy Senior Peer Leader. In this role, Ms. Michler is among a select group of Seniors chosen to mentor incoming freshmen at her school. In weekly meetings, she guides ninth graders with all aspects of the transition to the upper school. Lizzy Michler's photograph, "Reflections" was a runner up in the Greenwich Magazine Student Photo Contest in 2010.
Lizzy Michler has a passion for sailing. Lizzy Michler is Co-Captain of the Greenwich Academy Varsity Sailing Team. Michler was awarded the "Captain Harbor Cup" in 2011 as the Most Valuable Sailor on Greenwich Academy team for the best racing record in both team and fleet racing. Lizzy Michler serves as the 2011 Junior Commodore of Riverside Yacht Club. Michler is a member of the Riverside Yacht Club team to win the Sears Cup in 2011 and 2010, the US Sailing junior triple-handed championship quarter finals. Lizzy Michler has been awarded Riverside Yacht Club's Jay Kopp Memorial Trophy, the Peggy LaRiviere Memorial Trophy, the McLenmore Trophy and the Coralie McAleer Award.
Ms. Michler is set to graduate from Greenwich Academy in 2012.
