Dr. Lawrence Dunn serves as the founder and President of the medical device company DosePoint Inc., which manufactures an automated medication dispenser. He is also the owner of his own private psychiatric practice, Lawrence A Dunn, MD, PLLC.

He also maintains membership in the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. An educator, researcher, writer, and inventor as well, he has received numerous grants and contracts to study schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator. Dr. Lawrence Dunn also has acted as a Participating Investigator on studies related to schizophrenia, HIV, antipsychotic drug action, cardiac outcomes, and other topics.

As a writer, Dr. Lawrence Dunn has contributed articles on a variety of psychiatric subjects in such professional publications as The Journal of Biological Chemistry, The American Journal of Psychiatry, The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Society, and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He also has co-written abstracts on cardiac abnormalities, antipsychotic drugs, latent inhibition, and other topics for Clinical Research and for the Society for Neuroscience. In addition, Dr. Dunn wrote the book chapter, “Animal Behavioral Models for Drug Development in Psychopharmacology,” which appeared in Modern Drug Discovery Technologies.

At Kalamazoo College in Michigan, Dr. Lawrence Dunn excelled academically, earning admission to The Phi Beta Kappa Society, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Nu Sigma Nu as well as earning several prestigious awards. Upon graduating cum laude with a B.A., he matriculated to the University of Michigan Medical School, where he received an M.D. Dr. Dunn trained as a resident physician and as a psychopharmacology research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center, where he subsequently taught for more than 20 years. In 1989, he garnered the prestigious Kempf Fund Award for Research Development in Psychobiological Psychiatry from the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Dunn’s distinguished career has included 17 years of service as a staff psychiatrist, Psychopharmacology Research Unit Director, and Medical Director of multiple programs at the Durham VA Medical Center.
