    Summary

When Kyle Worrel entered his first year of undergraduate studies at Elon University in North Carolina in the fall semester of 2012, he brought a record of academic excellence in high school and an active commitment to community leadership. Active in academic and social endeavors, in 12th grade Kyle Worrel was a Student Council Member-at-Large whose duties included representing his peers and participating in community service projects. Parents nominated Kyle Worrel as a peer mentor, a role he fulfilled in 11th and 12th grades. In his work with teens who were at risk, he established friendships with teenagers and helped them develop positive and productive academic and life skills. While maintaining membership in the National Honor Society in 11th and 12th grade and earning the title Leadership and Learning Student of the Year in 2011, Mr. Worrel trained as a tutor for students with reading challenges. He learned how to serve as a role model and how to tutor such reading topics as comprehension and vocabulary. In addition to his academic and community activities, Kyle Worrel worked throughout his high school years. He traveled to global destinations, including Israel, France, and Costa Rica. An avid golfer, Mr. Worrel played on his school’s golf team and on the National Junior Golf Tour.
