Over the course of her career in pediatric and reconstructive urology, Dr. Kristin Kozakowski has focused on various research objectives and clinical pursuits, gaining a high degree of peer recognition for her work. Today, Dr. Kristin Kozakowski provides all manner of diagnostic and treatment services to pediatric patients, with a particular emphasis on groin surgery, penile reconstruction, bladder reconstruction, surgery for vesico-ureteral reflux, endoscopic treatment of kidney stones, urinary incontinence, and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Kozakowski is a member of the American Urological Association.
After graduating summa cum laude from Georgetown University in 1999 with a B.A. in Philosophy, Dr. Kristin Kozakowski commenced studies in medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. For the next four years, Dr. Kristin Kozakowski set the stage for a prolific career in medicine at Columbia University, marked by additional achievements as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee, tutor for the Student Success Network, and President of the Ethics Club. Additionally, she served as President of the Class of 2003.
Following the receipt of her M.D., Dr. Kristin Kozakowski entered into a rigorous course of training at Columbia University Medical Center and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. From 2003 through 2008, she built an outstanding record as a clinician and researcher. Moving through a general surgery internship, residency in urology, and a term as Chief Resident in the J. Bentley Squier Urologic Clinic, Dr. Kozakowski also presented her findings at the American Urological Association; Sexual Medicine Society of North America Annual Meeting; New York Academy of Medicine Valentine Essay Contest; and the American Academy of Pediatrics, where she received honors as a Clinical Research Prize Finalist in 2007. In addition, she contributed to a book chapter in the Handbook of Urologic Cryoablation during this period.
In 2008, Dr. Kristin Kozakowski began a two-year research and clinical fellowship in pediatric urology under Dr. Joao Pippi Salle at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. While there, she published additional book chapters in Laparoscopic Reconstructive Urology, Conn’s Current Therapy 2010, and Pediatric Urology (2nd Edition), as well as articles in the Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, and the Journal of Pediatric Urology. Dr. Kozakowski also presented findings at both the World Congress of Pediatric Urology and American Urological Association meetings in 2010 before entering into a private group practice in pediatric urology in Miami, Florida.
