Kenneth Orr

CEO and Founder, Triumph Small Cap Fund, Inc.

10009New YorkUnited States

In his capacity as Chief Executive Officer of Triumph Small Cap Fund, Inc., Kenneth Orr oversees investments in early-stage public or private companies in the oil, gas, and mining industries, as well as emerging firms in the biotech, health care, and pharmaceutical fields. Triumph's current resource and energy projects include liquid natural gas depots, coal power generation facilities, iron ore mines, lead mines, zinc mines, and gold and silver mines.

Triumph often acts as the lead investor in new companies, and Kenneth Orr takes charge of much of the due diligence in investment decisions. The efforts of Triumph Small Cap Fund have generated tens of thousands of jobs and led to the creation of hundreds of new companies. Among the success stories from Triumph Small Cap Fund are RentWay, a firm that later sold to Rent-A-Center, Inc., at a price tag of more than $500 million. Kenneth Orr was also an early investor in IVAX Corporation, which was later purchased by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. in a $7.4 billion transaction.

Prior to his time at Triumph Small Cap Fund, Kenneth Orr served as Chief Executive Officer of First Cambridge Securities Corp., an investment bank with offices in Los Angeles and New York, which employed more than 350 people and served more than 15,000 clients. Orr previously served as Vice President of a family-owned commodities trading firm, North American Agriculture, Inc. During his 5 years at the company, North American Agriculture’s sales grew sixfold, and its staff expanded to 320 employees. Kenneth Orr personally oversaw the firm's commodity trading operations with the Former Soviet Union; the firm sold more cocoa from the Dominican Republic to the Former Soviet Union than any other firm up to that time. In addition, Orr oversaw the extension of credit to Russian businesses that could not gain credit elsewhere for the purchase of commodities.

Along with his wife, Kenneth Orr is a notable contributor to many charities and worthy causes. In 2004, they formed the Orr Foundation, a philanthropic group that funnels millions of dollars toward the research and cure for various preventable diseases; it also works to increase religious and racial tolerance and eradicate domestic violence. The Orr Foundation has offered support to the American National Red Cross, Amnesty International, Autism Speaks, Project Sunshine, Prevent Child Abuse America, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.
