A three-time Olympian, Katerina Nash currently competes in both cross-country mountain biking and cyclo-cross events as a member of the Luna Women’s Pro Cycling team, the LUNA Chix. Now in her 12th year with the team, Ms. Nash is the only original member currently racing on the LUNA Chix roster. Ms. Nash entered the sport of mountain biking after a successful nine-year career in cross-country skiing, complete with two competitions in the Olympic Games.
At the Union Cycliste International (UCI) World Cup in 2006, Katerina Nash placed eighth in the Cyclo-cross event in Belgium. In 2011, the Czech-born Ms. Nash grabbed first place in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup hosted in the Czech Republic. Contributing to a solid year of racing on European soil, Ms. Nash placed third overall at the Cyclo-cross World Championships in St. Wendel, Germany. Katerina Nash competed in an additional World Cup event in Italy before wrapping up the season with a 14th place finish at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Switzerland.
During the 2011 competitive racing season on American soil, Katerina Nash took first in two smaller events near her home in Truckee, California, the CrossVegas and Nevada City Classic. These events prepared her for the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross series, a professional racing circuit of eight races over four weekends. The races attract the best field of riders in the Western Hemisphere, and Ms. Nash placed first overall in the Elite Women’s category, winning the series.
The 2012 season started well for Ms. Nash when she won first place in the Sea Otter Classic Short Track event, tuning up for the qualifying run to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. With a successful qualifying run, Katerina Nash will compete in her fourth Olympic Games, her second as a mountain biker.
