Justin Zatkoff currently studies law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he expects to receive his JD in May 2014. A solid performer, he currently ranks in the Top 15% of his class and maintains an active extracurricular schedule. To date, Justin Zatkoff’s achievements in law school include serving on the Law Review and the Moot Court Board of Advocates. He was a quarterfinalist in the G. Mennen Moot Court Competition and received a Dean’s Scholarship from the school.
During the summer of 2012, Justin Zatkoff held a position as a summer intern with U.S. District Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff. Over the course of the three-month assignment, he researched topics; wrote draft opinions for the court; and attended a number of hearings, conferences, and trials before the court.
During his first year of law school, Mr. Zatkoff worked as a law clerk with the firm of Shifman & Carlson in Farmington Hills, Michigan. In addition to drafting legal memoranda on issues related to election law, his duties included writing on municipal and charter school law as well. He also prepared policy updates for charter schools and legislation for municipal clients.
Prior to enrolling in law school, Justin Zatkoff held a variety of political consulting positions in connection with Strategic National Campaign Management. His assignments included working with the College Republican National Committee to manage the National Field Program. He also worked state and national campaigns, including representing John McCain for President in southeast Michigan.
In addition to his academic and legal pursuits, Justin Zatkoff contributes to the Junior League of Ann Arbor and is a member of the Victor’s Club of the University of Michigan.
