Dean and John E. Anderson Chair of ManagementUCLA Anderson School of ManagementJudy D. Olian is dean of UCLA Anderson School of Management. She assumed that position in 2006, after serving as dean of the Smeal College at Penn State, and professor and senior associate dean at the Smith School at the University of Maryland.
During her leadership of UCLA Anderson, the school has substantially expanded its faculty and programs, grown its student body, globalized its partnerships and programs, and enjoyed the unprecedented philanthropy of its supporters. Dean Olian leads a school that annually provides management education to almost 2,000 students in MBA, Masters and doctoral programs, and to more than 2,000 professionals through executive education programs.
She has consulted with global corporations and taught executives around the world, and served as chair of AACSB International, the premier global organization of business schools. She is a graduate of the Hebrew University, with a PhD from the University of Wisconsin.

Judy Olian - Educational Thought Leader
An influential administrator with extensive experience in business education, Judy Olian serves as Dean and John E. Anderson Chair in Management at UCLA Anderson School of Management. In this capacity, she oversees all academic, strategic and financial activities at one of the leading graduate business schools in the world. She also spearheads multiple global and regional outreach initiatives. During her time with UCLA Anderson, Judy Olian has spearheaded the school’s initiative as a model for financial self-sufficiency within the University of California System, and introduced several innovative degree programs to prepare students for careers in the 21st century.
In addition to her role with UCLA Anderson, Judy Olian is Senior Advisor to the UCLA Chancellor for Global Strategy. She has helped guide the university to establish its campus-wide global strategic priorities and regional foci. Dean Olian has an overarching objective to enhance the global exposure of students, and international reach and reputation of UCLA Anderson and the entire university. She has implemented multiple strategies to achieve these goals, including a portfolio of global immersion courses, global joint degree partnerships, and global travel missions with the UCLA Chancellor.
Prior to joining UCLA, Judy Olian spent several years as dean and professor of management at Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business. In addition to overseeing the learning and development of nearly 6,000 students, she developed close working relationships with alumni and led a fundraising campaign for to build the school’s endowment and fund an award-winning business school facility for Smeal.
Judy Olian received her PhD and MS in industrial relations and human resource management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and BA in psychology from The Hebrew University. She was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia.
