John A. Thornton is President and Principal Consultant for CleanFuture http://cleanfuture.us , a consulting firm providing business and technical expertise at the convergence of energy, mobility, sustainability and the Smart Grid.

Prior to founding CleanFuture, John has experience in start-up ventures as Vice President of Manufacturing & Supply Chain for Porteon Electric Vehicles http://www.porteon.net , a start-up headquartered in Portland, Oregon USA. Porteon designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes electric vehicles; creating mobility solutions that are clean, energy efficient, economical, and truly sustainable.

John Thornton served as Porteon's Vice President of Manufacturing & Supply Chain. In addition to leading start-up operations and facilitating Porteon's product development process, John is responsible for a host of supplemental activities inherent in a start-up product launch.

John has over 20 years experience in global procurement and strategic sourcing, supply chain, product development, product management, product strategy and supplier development. Prior to joining Porteon, John spent 11 years playing key roles in the launch of electric vehicles and related technologies for NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. http://www.nmhg.com , a $2.7 billion subsidiary of NACCO Industries, producer of Hyster® http://www.hyster.com and Yale® http://www.yale.com lift trucks. He has directed cross-functional teams in the development, launch and introduction of new products and processes on a global scale.

John earned a B.S. degree in Business / Operations Management from Oregon State University, and an M.B.A. from Portland State University.
