John Coble
OWNER, BLUE ARC WELDING CO.
My name is John Coble and I’m 52 years young. Jumping into this new career from rig owner welder/fabricator to welding inspector has been very rewarding. Going to seminars, classes and taking code book exams makes me feel young, as if I’m back in collage. Only this time I have a definite purpose in mind. One: is to achieve the necessary knowledge from getting my certification on the code books in my field, and enrolling in classes that will enhance my career. This will insure a successful base in my inspection field. Second: gain as much experience and knowledge from being hands on the job. Learning from my peers and exploring better ways to perform my inspection duties through interactive communication with others in my field of expertise. This new and rewarding career as a welding inspector has endless possibilities for me. And I’m willing to invest in myself, my education, my time and I’m commented to achieve the highest possibilities one can achieve in this field of inspection.
1996 - 2011I am currently employed by a large fabrication company in Houston, Texas for the last 14 years. In the last year and a half I have been responsible for quality control in the fabrication and welding of assembled components. I am also required to perform final as-built inspections, as well as material and welding traceability with my designed weld maps.
Since my promotion from 1st class certified welder to the company’s quality control inspector. I have increased productity, quality, shop moral, and cut costs in welding consumables and repairs.
