As the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana, and the Chancellor of Hyles-Anderson College, Pastor Jack Schaap is entrusted with a number of responsibilities concerning educational, financial, and spiritual matters. Pastor Jack Schaap has held both positions since 2001.
Pastor Jack Schaap's history with Hyles-Anderson College dates back to his days as an undergraduate. Schaap earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian theology in 1978 and followed it up with a Master's degree in the same field the following year. For the next five years, he taught various Bible courses at the Christian college.
In 1984, Pastor Jack Schaap became an Assistant to the President at Hyles-Anderson, and he later became Vice President of the college. Along the way, Schaap was awarded an honorary doctorate for his service to the school.
Following the death of his mentor, Pastor Jack Schaap was voted in as the succeeding pastor at First Baptist Church by an enormous margin, capturing 96 percent of the church members' votes. In doing so, he became the head pastor of one of the largest Christian churches in the United States. First Baptist has a 7,500-capacity auditorium and performs approximately 10,000 baptisms every year. Schaap leads six church services every week, in addition to other pastoral duties and his obligations at Hyles-Anderson.
As Chancellor of Hyles-Anderson, Pastor Jack Schaap is charged with overseeing and guiding the educations of more than 3,000 students educated at the college's five different campuses. In addition to its Indiana location, Hyles-Anderson has expanded globally and now features campuses in Ghana, West Africa, and the Philippines, with its sights set on building more international campuses in the near future.

Began teaching Bible at Hyles-Anderson College in 1978. Five years later, became an assistant to the president. Received an honorary doctorate from Hyles-Anderson College in 1994. Then, on June 4, 1996, became the vice president of Hyles-Anderson College. During his time at the college, Dr. Schaap traveled extensively across America and became known as one of America’s premier preachers, especially to teenagers. Became Chancellor in 2001 after the death of Dr Jack Hyles. Oversees all operations of this college which has campus locations in Indiana, Ghana, West Africa, Philippines. Speaks weekly to student body and teaches church education.
