A licensed Speech and Language professional since 1999, Dr. Irene Gioules is the founder and Director of Theratalk Speech-Language Pathology, P.C., in Whitestone, New York. Irene Gioules began her Speech-Language pathology training as an undergraduate at St. John's University in New York City. After graduating magna cum laude in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology, she remained at St. John's to obtain her Master's degree in the same field, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Moving on to New York's Columbia University to pursue her doctorate, Irene Gioules began a lifelong specialization in pediatrics. Her dissertation entitled "The Developmental Coordination of Breathing Movements and Swallowing" focused expressly on motor skill development in young children. While at Columbia, Dr. Gioules was also honored with a grant in the field of Speech and Hearing.
In addition to her scholarly research, Dr. Irene Gioules completed a clinical fellowship in an acute care setting that addressed adverse neonatal and adult neurological conditions. Continuing to work with a pediatric patient base, Dr. Gioules stresses preventive measures and early intervention in her private practice at Theratalk. In addition to its extensive work with those under the age of 18, Theratalk Speech-Language Pathology also aids a number of adult patients who experience speech-impairing neurological problems. The private clinic serves the metropolitan New York area from its office in the Whitestone neighborhood of Queens.
