Prior to accepting this position, Io Cyrus practiced health law with Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., in Boston and earned her juris doctor from Northeastern University School of Law. Before focusing on a career in the legal sector, Io Cyrus headed the Coastal AIDS Network in Mid-coast Maine and, prior to this, she worked as an assistant director and administrator at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Her past jobs in the nonprofit field also include women’s education services coordinator at Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) in New York City and outreach director and campus organizer with the New York Public Interest Research Group. More recently, Io Cyrus presided over the board of directors for Respond, Inc., a Somerville, Massachusetts, nonprofit serving the victims of domestic violence. Elected to two terms as head of the organization’s directorial board, she successfully led a $2 million fundraising campaign that helped build a new shelter for the nonprofit.
