My main focus is to study the interrelation existing between a virus and its host cell. How the virus hijack the cellular pathways to his own advantage
Understanding viral mechanisms of HIV-1 immune evasion. What are the strategies that allow viral persistence. (Dr. Kathleen Collins's laboratory)
2005 - 20102009-2011: Dr. Parent’s laboratory. There I studied how retroviruses "pick-up" their genomes, trying to identify the combination of host and viral factors involved, and determining the overall impact for the host. I adapt the MS2 phage coat protein system to identify the trafficking pattern of the Rous Sarcoma Virus (RSV) genomic RNA.
2005-2008: Dr. Isom's laboratory: I studied the formation of the persistent form of the HBV DNA and the localization of the HBV core protein
