Ellenie Ash
Vocalist, El&Co.
I am a Blues and Jazz Vocalist and have been a professional since the mid 70's.
I have also been a Music Teacher in Parochial and Public Schools.
I am now retired from teaching and back to performing, my true calling in life.
I have had some of the finest mentors in my professional life who have taught me much. Claude Black, Clifford Murphy, Ramona Collins, and many more Jazz musicians from the Toledo, OH area were my mentors. People like John Mast, Gene Parker, and all the musicians that played at Rusty's encouraged me to keep working on my material and presentations.
After nineteen years of not performing due to work and family obligations I am now able to perform and have thrown myself into the music scene and met a lot of marvelous people who are working on keeping the live music scene alive in NW Ohio and SE Michigan.
I have met young performers who are excited about learning this Artful Trade to which I have dedicated myself. I am happy to mentor younger musicians and encourage them. My heart swells as they progress and become dedicated and responsible performers. I am encouraged to pass down lessons that I learned from those who came before me and showed me the way.
I have two groups in which I am the lead singer. The first is the B/Charmers. We are a Blues Band that covers Blues from many eras. We perform original material as well as covering other material.
My other group is just getting started and is called El&Co. This group is basically a Jazz combo which covers Standards, Ballads, and Blues. It can be a small trio or a larger combo with horns and woodwinds.
