    An experienced cardiologist, Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen treats patient through Dekalb Regional Medical Center in Fort Payne. At this practice, his duties include pacemaker implantation, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen maintains board certification in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and international medicine. In addition, he is certified as a cardiac device specialist. Alongside his work at American Family Care, he works at a startup company that he founded called base2 Medical. Now serving as the company’s CEO, he develops LabStar software specially designed for nuclear cardiology laboratories. Dr. Nielsen studied at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas and completed a residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center after earning his doctor of medicine. Subsequent to his resident, he pursued specialty training in cardiology through a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His fellowship included extensive research experience and he published his findings in the American Journal of Cardiology, Cytometry, Endocrine Practice, and Chest, among other peer-reviewed journals.
