- Endoscopic spine surgery
For nearly a decade, Dr. Carl Spivak has enjoyed an outstanding level of success as a neurosurgeon. Currently, Dr. Carl Spivak practices with Executive Spine Surgery, PC, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where he specializes in minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery. There are a number of reasons why Carl Spivak, MD, prefers this state-of-the-art form of surgery over the traditional method. Due to the small size of the incision, there is less damage to tissues and blood vessels. Endoscopic surgery can be performed without the use of anesthesia, which greatly lowers the risk of certain medical complications. After the surgery, patients experience less pain and a faster recovery time.
Prior to launching his career, Carl Spivak, MD, attended the University of Winnipeg on a number of academic scholarships, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, and graduated with the highest distinctions. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Medicine and MD through the University of Manitoba. Dr. Spivak later completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Saskatchewan. This was followed by a fellowship in complex spine and peripheral nerve surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center and a fellowship in minimally invasive spine surgery and interventional pain management at Semmes Murphey Spine And Neurological Institute in Memphis, Tennessee.
After completing his training, Carl Spivak, MD, began practicing in the Department of Neurosurgery at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York. He has become an extremely active member of his professional community, teaching as a Clinical Assistant Professor at both the Albany Medical College and Columbia University. Dr. Spivak is licensed to practice in several states, including California, Tennessee, Michigan, New York, Florida, and New Jersey. Since embarking on his career, he has participated in numerous presentations, meetings, and research programs.
