A retired instructor of logic, philosophy, and ethics at Texas Christian University and the University of Houston, Doc Gallagher has published 4 books and 17 articles in various publications around the country, including World Vision Magazine, The Journal of Value Inquiry, Tall Windows: National Library Literary Review, and Bottom Line Financial. In his first published book, Don't Go Overseas until You’ve Read This Book, Doc Gallagher related his experiences in working for the Peace Corps in Thailand in the 1960s, preparing Americans for the culture shock that accompanies traveling abroad. The book has been included on reading lists at seminaries and universities throughout the United States. In 1977, Doc Gallagher published the book How to Stop the Porno Plague, which examined the pornography industry and its connection to sexual abuse. Through this exposé, which focused in part on the Playboy-type magazines, Doc Gallagher contributed to increased legislation regarding child pornography, sexual abuse, and crimes against women. Over the course of the past 22 years, Doc Gallagher has devoted his career to helping individuals to make the right financial decisions for the long term. He published two books on financial planning, including How to Save Money on Almost Everything and his most recent, The Money Doctor's Guide to Taking Care of Yourself When No One Else Will. Doc Gallagher specializes in helping older people to plan for their future, offering advice about investing for retirement, estate planning, and creating trust funds. The Texas radio station KAAM airs Doc Gallagher's weekly radio show, Your Family Matters, which provides financial-planning advice. Over the years, Doc Gallagher has helped thousands of individuals with their retirement and estate planning needs. He serves as a faculty member for Zig Ziglar’s Born to Win seminars, speaking on successful financial planning. Outside of his career, Doc Gallagher enjoys running. In addition to preparing for his first triathlon, Doc Gallagher successfully completed the New York City Marathon. He lives outside of Dallas with his wife, Gail, and their two children.
