- Developed electrical, instrumentation and piping material take-offs (MTO) to establish a basis for substantiating and challenging the EPC contractor’s rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimate for the construction of the plant.
- Reviewed EPC Phase I engineering deliverables (P&ID’s, single line diagrams, water balances, heat & mass balances).
- Reviewed general arrangements, made proposals to reduce the overall plant footprint considering constructability, and by optimizing piping and electrical cable routing, as well as building size requirements.
- Conducted design reviews with Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (supplier of molten salt system) and the EPC contractor.
• 150 MW Rice Solar Energy Project, Riverside County, CA (exp. production: 450,000 MWh /yr, dispatchable generation profile)
- Supported the process of responding to Data Requests issued by the California Energy Commission (CEC) following submission of an Application for Certification (AFC).
• 100 MW Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, Nye County, NV (exp. production: 480,000 MWh /yr, dispatchable generation profile)

2008 - 2009• Detail Engineering of a Selective Catalytic (NOx) Reduction unit, CHEVRON, El Segundo refinery, CA
- Rescued the project from an instrumentation standpoint through tactful customer interface, and aggressive schedule recovery planning with suppliers and in-house engineers.
- Led a project team of five engineers and designers. Reviewed deliverables and material requisitions.
- Ensured conformance of suppliers with technical, budgetary and delivery requirements.
- Provided engineering support during commissioning: responded promptly to customer and field inquiries (RFI).
• FEED of an Ethylene Plant, SAUDI ARAMCO & THE DOW CHEMICAL CO.
- Developed piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Developed an application capable of transferring spreadsheet-based process data to a database, saving the project approximately $30,000 in man-hours.
• Sludge Incinerator, SONATRACH, Algeria
- Developed man-hour and material cost estimates for the instrumentation and process control of a sludge incinerator.

• Deployment of Foundation Fieldbus technology in the tank farm.

- Designed a Foundation Fieldbus network architecture, allowing control and monitoring of 500 valves and 30 pumps.
- Prepared material requisitions, reviewed vendor quotes and finalized technical bid analysis.

- Developed the instrument and control philosophy.

- Retrofitted the fire & gas and emergency shutdown systems for the plant.

- Prepared a technical proposal for the supply of a SCADA system, comprising a voice/data transmission system + solar power system.

Design of the fire & gas (F&G) and emergency shutdown (ESD) systems for a floating oil production installation (FPSO).
- Developed the safety system network architecture, the logic diagrams and the cause & effect matrices for the F&G and ESD systems.
- Programmed F&G and ESD applications for Triconex safety controllers (Tricon).
