    Specializing in pain management, Darien Behravan is the founding and lead physician of the Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute, which opened its doors in 2004. This is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive institute specializing in treatment of spinal disorders, chronic pain and minimally invasive pain and spine procedures. The Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute treats patients with chronic and acute pain, as well as those with spinal disorders. Since Darien Behravan faced his own struggle with chronic pain for many years, he understands the suffering of his patients. Darien Behravan believes that pain management is often overcome by using alternative and holistic methods that can be overlooked, such as yoga, cognitive therapy, deep breathing, and other mind/body exercises. As a man who successfully ended his chronic pain problems, Darien Behravan has practical, personal experience that allows him to relate to his patients. The Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute offers medical management for pain, interventional spinal injections, and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Located at 13690 East 14th Street in San Leandro, California, the Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute conducts medical legal evaluations and works with those who have been injured on the job as well as cancer pain and end of life care. Dr. Darien Behravan completed his undergraduate work at the University of Maryland on a tennis scholarship and following that was accepted to the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He then completed a year of Radiation Oncology at the prestigious Roswell Park Cancer Institute and then his residency in Anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia and Penn State in Hershey. Following that, he pursued his passion in interventional pain and spine and chronic pain at the prestigious Stanford University in California, where he was trained by thoughtful leaders in the field of pain management. He focused on interventional pain, cancer pain, and spinal injections in the Department of Pain Medicine at Stanford University. Additionally, Darien Behravan is the Associate Producer of a chronic pain documentary series that aims to educate and empower the individual in pain. The series contains short documentaries that each focus on a different aspect of chronic pain, and these episodes are meant to help those in pain acquire the necessary tools to deal with and overcome that pain. Darien Behravan frequently volunteers to support community health awareness in his community of San Francisco, California. His specialty in pain management has gained Darien Behravan national attention. He is invited to speak at conferences on pain management frequently and sits on the advisory bureaus of pharmaceutical giants like Pfizer Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and Cephalon, Inc, Johnson and Johnson, Inc, Pricara, Inc.
