    Summary

    I have been a free lance writer for over 40 years. In addition to magazine and newspaper articles, I have written and published several books of fiction and nonfiction. I retired from government service in 2012, after 50 years of combined military and civilian service, and am now engaged full time in free lance writing, blogging, and public speaking.

From September 2006 to July 2009
Improved relationship with groups representing families of the missing; increased visibility of live personnel recovery in addition to improved remains recovery accounting. Instituted rigorous budget reviews and got first budget increase for function in a decade.

From December 2002 to July 2005
Changed bilateral defense relationship, and increased efforts to fight human trafficking.
 

Consul General

At US Consulate General, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

From March 1998 to July 2001
As first US Consul General in southern Vietnam, I set the tone for our relationship and promoted US business.
 

Deputy Chief of Mission

From September 1993 to July 1996
I was instrumental in talking the military government into stepping down and allowing elections.
