A current candidate in the Fifth Pathway Pre-Internship Program at New York Medical College, Arash Shamsian, M.D., brings a lifelong passion for medicine and a comprehensive fluency in the biological sciences to his training. Raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Arash Shamsian attended Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School, during which time he took advanced courses at UCLA and served as a researcher at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The recipient of Bravo’s Science, Technology, and Research Award, Arash Shamsian graduated high school with high honors and completed his college education at UCSB. In a new scholastic environment, Dr. Shamsian pursued a rigorous course of study in biochemistry and chemistry, additionally performing research, participating in the Chemistry Club, and teaching elementary and middle school students through his school’s Chemistry Outreach program. Highly active in the community as well, Arash Shamsian, M.D., balanced his coursework with volunteer work at local doctors’ offices and hospitals, assisting in various OB/GYN units.
Following receipt of his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Chemistry, Dr. Arash Shamsian gained admission to the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine, where he spent four years in an intensive classroom and clinical training program. An outstanding student, he earned his Doctor of Medicine with honors from UAG in 2011 and subsequently returned to the United States, enrolling in New York Medical College’s Fifth Pathway Program. At present, Dr. Shamsian fulfills his pre-internship training at Richmond University Medical Center in West New Brighton, Staten Island. He holds membership in the Medical Society of the State of New York, the American Medical Association, and the American Chemical Society.
