About him

Podiatrist Anthony Karuza, DPM, laid the foundations for his medical practice with more than two decades of education and professional training. A 1976 graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Dr. Anthony Karuza completed an accelerated four-year program at the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM). He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1980.

Following the conferral of his degree, Anthony Karuza began a series of rotations to hone his medical skills. Dr. Karuza completed a rotation in surgery at CCPM, with subsequent rotations in trauma and orthopedics at Los Angeles County Hospital, and in orthopedics, vascular medicine, and podiatry at the Veterans Administration in Tucson, Arizona. To continue his advanced training, Dr. Anthony Karuza underwent surgical education at Waldo Hospital in Seattle, and he traveled to the United Kingdom to pursue instruction in general medicine, podiatry, and orthopedics under the auspices of the National Health Service. Dr. Karuza completed his residency in surgery in 1981 at Medical Center Hospital, an institution accredited by The Joint Commission, formerly known as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. To supplement his medical training, he completed a mini-residency in surgery at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta in northeastern Georgia in 1995.

After the completion of his surgical residency, Dr. Karuza founded his own podiatric medical practice, Northwest Foot Clinic, which he operated from 1981 to 2010.

Over the course of his career, Anthony Karuza coauthored several medical articles in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, including The Journal of Physiology; Neurosurgery; and The American Journal of Medicine.

A member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association, Dr. Karuza supports several charitable organizations, including Lighthouse Mission Ministries, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and The Salvation Army.
