Andrew Barmakian
About Me
Andrew Barmakian's formative years as an engineer date back to the Korean War in the 1950s. A member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, he returned from Korea in 1952 following an honorable discharge. He then enrolled in Pasadena Community College and the University of California, Los Angeles, where he completed a degree in engineering. Between 1957 and 1965, Andrew Barmakian remained in California and functioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Building for the City of Alhambra as well as serving in a variety of engineering roles for the City of West Covina. Later, he held responsibility as Vice President of Griffin and Reeves Engineering Co. in Pomona.
From 1964 to 1975, Andrew Barmakian founded and directed his own engineering and architectural business where he supervised various local projects. In 1987, he created an architectural office called The Barmakian Company, which catered its services to the United States Navy. He is currently in the process of launching a new architectural group.
Throughout the years, Andrew Barmakian has continued to help his local community. From fundraising rallies to volunteering, his commitment to assisting the underserved has earned him respect and recognition. In his early teens, Andrew Barmakian was a boy scout, and he won many merit badges for his good deeds and ongoing involvement in local events such as the Christmas Tree Lane Traffic Patrol.
During his service in Korea, Andrew Barmakian supported improved living conditions for Korean orphan children. After writing a letter to his parents, he received a strong response from the Pasadena community, which then sent hundreds of boxes full of clothing to aid in his efforts for Korean children. In 1952, Mr. Barmakian continued to promote donation drives and secured strong backing from the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Heading The Barmakian Company, Andrew Barmakian serves as Architect, Engineer and Contractor of record. His official title of President and CEO is well earned as Andrew Barmakian serves the company’s administrative and executive needs while balancing business development and daily operations.
Achievements
In 1995 Andrew Barmakian invented Pilings for military ship piers to be utilized by U.S. Navy berthing vessels. In addition to his patriotic inventions Andrew Barmakian also holds patents for load distributing camels and plastic timbers for Pier and Wharf construction. The U.S. Navy has written that Mr. Barmakian’s inventions and manufactured materials being the best and strongest piling in the world from recycled plastics.
